So, I would like to take another moment to speak fruitfully about atheists. Atheists have their perks. They aren't as dogmatized as the religious folk. But they think blindsidedly about how things aren't really because they don't know that some things aren't what they want to think they are.
The idea of God. This is the concept atheists don't get. They think an old man in the sky, with no explanation whatsoever, he just does everything. Why did this happen? God did it. Why did the Earth come into existence? God wanted it. Why are we here? God did it.
It is an anthropomorphized concept, making God an old man in the sky. Just like we anthropomorphize the wind, the rain, the mountains, the rivers, everything, in some religions. That's what religion is. That was what I used to think to, until I got smart and realized that wasn't what it is about.
The belief in God is about the belief in consciousness. It is like saying, what sets us apart from this rock here? What sets us apart from that star out there? What sets us apart from that meteor, or inanimate object.
We have consciousness.
What is consciousness? Atheists don't like to think about it. A meaningless construct of the human brain that serves evolutionary purposes.
I say, that spark of consciousness is something more than that. It goes beyond the DNA of human beings to be an all encompassing, very powerful concept that is more important than anything else in the universe.
And I would go so far to say, that spark of consciousness, any spark of consciousness, self-awareness, not a human, not a mammal, not anything like that, pure consciousness, essence, spirit, was there at the creation of the universe, and helped will the universe into existence.
Because it is that important, consciousness is. It is real, it is good, it is everything. Without it, there is nothing.
That is all God is to me. No, you're right, it's not, but that's all the atheist/theist argument is to me. I don't give a shit about the Christianity argument. It was right for me. I'm not going to try to force it on anyone else anymore. Because I don't believe it is right for everyone. But I don't believe the universe is lifeless matter, lacks essence, and that we should exalt the dead, barren physical over the things that actually matter, which are the things that think and feel. That's the twisted, wonky atheist reasoning.
You're stardust, man. You're stardust. You are nothing but physical atoms.
That's what I hear day in and day out from atheists and I don't buy it. I don't buy it. I don't buy it. What a funny world you live in where you tell yourself you don't matter, only the things you can touch with your hands do. And that's all I have to say about that.
| But they think blindsidedly about how things aren't really because they don't know that some things aren't what they want to think they are.
ReplyDelete....wot?
Classical word salad.
Delete"But I don't believe the universe is lifeless matter, lacks essence, and that we should exalt the dead, barren physical over the things that actually matter, which are the things that think and feel. That's the twisted, wonky atheist reasoning."
ReplyDeleteThe idea is not that consciousness doesn't matter, but that there are other things to... well... be excited about. We look around and see such an amazing world. We want to know what this world is made of, how it works, how it reacts. We want to know why things are the way they are, and we want to know how they may be in the future. This doesn't subtract from our love of ourselves or people or the idea of consciousness in any way.
"What a funny world you live in where you tell yourself you don't matter, only the things you can touch with your hands do."
I don't see that as being in any way true about how we think. We don't say that we don't matter just because we are the result of a bunch of signals and chemicals in our brains. That doesn't make us any less human. It also doesn't mean we don't value abstract ideas. Just because we can't touch something with our hands, doesn't mean it doesn't mesh with our ideas.
I am very tired and if anything here doesn't make sense, I blame that. I hope this helps a little.
I enjoy the word blindsidedly. It's a fun word. I enjoy adding words to the English language. Someday I am going to write dictionaries of new words which everyone is going to use.
ReplyDeleteThat's how I feel about atheists. They don't know what things are. But I know there is more to the universe than things we understand from science class, or quantum mechanics, or anything. Face it, you will never answer all the questions that science presents. Like a circle, the more it grows, the more the circumference of the circle grows, with new questions that are presented as the old questions are answered.
How can you make the claim that the universe is more complex then quantum physics, when you don't even understand quantum physics?
Deletethis is basically boils down to the "god done it" argument, mixed with the "god of the gaps" argument.
Honestly quantum mechanics isn't my strong point. Some of the principles of quantum mechanics also apply to spiritual matters, though in different ways than the pseudoscience that some "spiritual" "psychics" spew. I enjoy the idea of entanglement, which demonstrates that particles can be connected in ways beyond the physical.
DeleteThere's no reason to believe that a consciousness willed the universe into existence. Consciousness is still good and real and it matters. Consider how every person you know and don't know, every deer, mushroom, centipede, whale, etc. alive or dead, traces its ancestry back to the same single-celled organisms. Life on Earth is one massive family, or, to look at it another way, life on Earth is all the same being. That's awe-inspiring to me. No need to imagine a consciousness that started it all. In fact, that cheapens life and makes us some cruel experiment.
ReplyDeleteI think the physical world is important and worth studying. Mostly because it is important to advancing science, which we use to help people. I personally find it boring though, though I enjoy ideas in quantum mechanics. I am speaking in hyperbole here, in a way I am using a straw man argument that is realistic, yet overly simplified, something I see in atheists. There is actually plenty of reason to believe that something beyond the physical willed the world into existence, because I can't see any way we can use the ideas presented in physics, even quantum physics when understand fully, to explain why the world is here. There is no logical explanation that doesn't transcend normal human thinking. I can't explain how the universe got there. I can explain that it is not far-fetched to think that consciousness is a bigger concept than a human construct. It dwells within every life form but it is not proven that it is a product of the human brain. Everyone assumes. No one knows. There are many examples of people who have experienced consciousness when there brain was dead, proven examples.
ReplyDeleteWhat I find amusing is your persistent attacks on atheists. Your concept of what constitutes atheism is laughable. But you persist because it really bugs the living shit out of you. I find that amusing too.
ReplyDeleteIt's the arrogance that bugs me. I will admit that not all atheists are arrogant. But there are some bad apples to seem to think they have figured out the secret to the universe because they are more intelligent than theists, and that anyone who actually thought things over would come to the same conclusion that there is no such thing as the supernatural and everything can be explained with science. I believe in science, very much so, but I also believe in things that science has not yet discovered, but will in time, things related to what we now call the supernatural. I don't hate atheists by any means, I have a lot of atheists friends. There are some atheists who are really obnoxious though, with the arrogance.
DeleteIt's the arrogance that bugs you? Pot, meet kettle...
DeleteLady, you just went full retard..
ReplyDeleteJust because it doesn't make you feel like a special little princess that you want to be, doesn't mean it isn't true.
"Oh my, how ever could I just be simple matter." Get the fuck over yourself.
Please actually learn what the majority of atheists believe before writing crap like this again.
Also, never fucking write crap like this again. I'm all for people disputing religion or philosophy, because I feel it give us a better perspective on our own opinions, but holy shit lady, did you read what you submitted??
She doesn't understand atheists because she's living in her own little world where she makes the rules.
DeleteIt is true that I make the rules on this blog. If you want to insult me, please take the time to understand what I actually believe. I don't believe that we are more than matter because that's what I believe, I believe that because I know better.
DeleteI saw so much evidence and have now converted to the one true faith of Islam. Oh wait, you're talking about Chrisitanity? INFIDEL!
ReplyDeleteConsciousness is a product of a brain, it relies on a physical brain, so much so that we have never ever come across any form of consciousness which is not associated with a brain. If you think otherwise then where is the scientific peer reviewed evidence? Why has no one claimed the James Randi million dollar prize? Why haven't they won a Nobel prize for the work?
ReplyDeleteAs far as science knows there are no brains outside of living creatures, we have no evidence for any type of brain associated with the universe and no evidence for any consiousness.
So what do you base your assertion on that there was a consciousness at the start of the universe? Your opinion? Seems to me to be a classic argument from ignorance.
In one of your follow on comments you say "I can't see any way we can use the ideas ... to explain why the world is here" and "There is no logical explanation that doesn't transcend normal human thinking. I can't explain how the universe got there".
You don't understand enough about consciousness so your dumping your own desires in where you should instead be saying 'I don't know'.
Conciousness is demonstrably material. Damage the brain, and you damage memory, sensory perception, reasoning power, and even temperament and mood - everything that makes up a mind. If conciousness is divine, what does that make mental illness?
ReplyDeleteConsciousness is a product of the spirit that is transmitted through the lens of the human mind. The human mind is separate from the human brain. The human brain is connected to the human mind. It all works together.
DeleteI admit there are are gaps in this theory I presented, because I didn't present all my reasoning. I think about these things a lot, so when I get down to writing... I don't always write down all my logical thought processes.
DeleteIt comes down to the fact that I think atheists don't appreciate the idea of consciousness, because it is hard to comprehend a universe without consciousness. When it comes down to these two things, the inanimate, non-feeling, non-aware, versus the self-aware... self-aware is a much more powerful, meaningful concept. I don't believe that something came out of nothing in this way, in that there was nothing self-aware at all... and then humans, or animals, or even single-celled organisms came along, and it was just some sort of useless byproduct, perhaps useful for evolutionary purposes, but nothing besides that. It is too powerful of a concept, consciousness, to not give any consideration.
It is a similar concept to the idea that energy cannot be created or destroyed, but it is a bit more than that. Hopefully that shed a bit more light on my theories.
"The human mind is separate from the human brain. The human brain is connected to the human mind." - What exactly do you consider the "human mind" to be? How is the "human mind" connected to the "human brain"?
DeleteThe human mind is where you reside. Entirely separate from the brain, however it is connected.
DeleteI reside in a house. Do you have a more definite, structural, and tangible definition of "mind"? Are you using "mind" as a concept of intellectual construct? How is the mind connected? Through the nervous, circulatory or limbic systems of the body? Can we replace "mind" with some other made up word and have without changing the meaning of your statement?
DeleteThe mind discussion is not important. I know it is separate for reasons I don't want to share. Yep. That's my argument.
DeleteLet's not get too carried away trying to reason with her. After all, she once told me her blog is a place for her to throw out her crazy theories. She's certainly correct about that. It's hard to challenge someone's ideas when their "logic" is all over the map. Underneath it all she simply hates atheists though the hate is based on ignorance of what constitutes atheism.
ReplyDeleteI don't hate atheists at all. I don't hate anyone.
DeleteThen why do you say that you hate them?
DeleteI don't recall ever saying I hated them.
DeleteYou said it yesterday - Organ Meat Christianity and Some Other Things Like Friendly Intelligent Happy Things - "That's why I hate atheists. Not all atheists. Just pathetic atheists."
DeleteI have said before, somewhere, I don't hate the idea of the absence of a God... I don't agree with it, but it isn't a belief in itself that bugs me. What I dislike is a certain brand of atheism, where everything is physical, explained through physics, there is nothing that some would call supernatural but I would call normal. I think what it comes down to, to psychoanalyze a bit, is times when I have opened up about paranormal experiences and I have been either accused of lying or being mentally deranged. I guess what I dislike is the close-mindedness of some atheists, who don't even admit that there is a possibility that there could be something like spiritual energy or ghosts. I don't mean, you have to accept it as fact and believe it because I said it. I just wish people would have an open-mind, and most people do to a great extent, but there are those people who are usually atheists who dismiss that outright as impossible. And this is where I say, who are you to say that is impossible? We don't understand the universe or existence at all really. We understand things about it, but we don't understand it. So really, I don't care whether or not you believe in God. It is more about the supernatural, which I hate using that word because I know some of the emotional connotations of the word supernatural amongst atheists. And it doesn't really bother me, maybe a little but not that much, that some atheists think this way, it's their arrogance about it, which makes me feel the need to try to dispute their claims in my own way, or at least explain on my blog why I don't feel the same way. By the way, I enjoy this very much. I enjoy the fact that this blog got so much attention. It is my favorite thing right now.
DeleteI don't hate atheists. I must have misspoke. I meant I dislike their ideas.
DeleteAtheists don't hate you. I'm glad this is your favorite thing right now. My favorite thing right now is your bottom picture in the purple shirt...
